Examinee #404, Kurapika is the last living member of the Kurta clan. He intends to become a Hunter in order to gain the resources necessary to track down and eliminate the Phantom Troupe, a gang of mercenaries that killed his family for their scarlet eyes.

Leorio Paradinight (Matt Mercer)
Examinee #403, Leorio is a hot-headed participant who has joined the Hunter Exam to help pay for his medical studies, so that he may become a doctor and help children in poor nations.

Killua Zoldyck (Christina Vee)
Examinee #99. Killua is the same age as Gon and joined the Hunter Exam for fun. He has an immunity to poisons, a side effect of being the youngest son of a family of assassins.

Hisoka Morow (Keith Silverstein)
Examinee #44. A dangerous unpredictable character, Hisoka is feared by nearly all the remaining applicants.

Gittarackur (Chris Hackney)
Examinee #301. An ally of Hisoka who has entered the Exam under a disguise. But for what reason?

Hanzo (Ray Chase)
Examinee #294. He's a ninja.

Pokkle (Bobby Thong)
Examinee #53. Specializing in using a bow and arrow, Pokkle's dream is to become a Beast Hunter.

Bodoro (Doug Stone)
Examinee #191. A kung fu master, he has a soft spot for children and doesn't wish to fight Gon or Killua.

Hatching a plan to escape the snake-filled cave with sleeping gas, Gon transported Leorio, Kurapika, and Ponzu out of the cave while holding his breath (and took Ponzu's badge as payment). With only nine applicants remaining at the end of the fourth phase, Netero interviewed each and, from the information gathered, planned out the final phase: A tournament.
