Are Thursday night previews getting out of hand?

Out of curiosity, I looked at showtimes for my local theater and saw that Five Nights at Freddy’s is playing today (Thursday) at 12 different showings starting as early as 2:15. Why not just say the movie is opening on October 26 then? To me two or maybe three late night showings would be a preview. I’m not angry or annoyed, but just legitimately confused.
