In spirit of the past two threads for season 1 and season 2 (Invasion) and some interest in doing on for season 3 (Outsiders), I thought I'd make a thread to compile the appearances of new DC characters. As a recap, season 1 had 179 total and season 2 had 62 bringing that to 241. We don't know if Greg Weisman counts the comics in this 241 number so we have a different designation for them and we also don't yet know how many total new DC characters appear in Outsiders. Still, best to start up a thread and borrow from Lighthammer's format.

Over the course of the first season, Greg Weisman gave several milestones number of characters debuted in season
1. On August 23,2010 Greg Weisman revealed at the end of Episode 16: Failsafe, 135 characters will have appeared Ask Greg 8/23/10.

2. On September 3, 2010, Greg Weistman revealed by the end of Episode 17: Disordered, 147 characters will have appeared Ask Greg 9/3/10

3. On MTV's interview with Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti, that by the end of Episode 24: 174 characters will have appeared MTV 1/14/11 Article

4. Finally on Greg Weisman's blog, he revealed 179 characters will have been revealed by the end of the season Ask Greg 2/7/12.

5. At the start of Season 2, an article on Newsarama dated March 17th, 2012 stated that 62 new characters would be revealed in season 2 Newsarama Article 3/17/12.

In addition to the TV series, there is a tie in comic book series that covers time periods not covered in the main series. The character debuts in the comic do not count towards the totals Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti have given in their interviews but those characters often do show up again in the series.

Below is a list of characters and their appearance orders. The first time a character appears with the exception of the Light in ep, all information is given in this wiki, however, the following color key will denote special events.

In previous seasons, the only way you got to the # of characters Weisman mentioned is if you included non DC characters that were only named in the credits. Like 1x03, look at some of those names... Daddy Lidz, Git N Payd, Hoody Boy, etc. Brick's thugs.

99% sure they new especialy Anna von Furth.
You mean, made just for the show? If yes, that wouldn't count. The count was supposed to be for existing DC characters I thought.

Interesting. And there's some non-speaking background cameos that will go unknown. For instance, no one figured out who the female Wildstorm character Weisman sneaked into season 1.

Yes they shouldn't count following those guidelines.
I'm thinking for Anna there's a slim chance they plucked an obscure Markovian/Outsiders or Suicide Squad minor character from the comics. Haven't found squat though. lol. Same with that Josefina Tarkov from customs other than an Arrow character with the same last name that's from Markovia. Like they totally changed up Wilhelm Vittings for example.

Thought I'd include some notes on the characters that showed up in this week's batch of episodes since the run the gamut of well known to "huh, who?"

-Exceptional Human Beings

Ron Evers - from Tales of the New Teen Titans #1 (June 1982) - a childhood friend of Victor's that uncovers wrongdoing at S.T.A.R. Labs but ends up exploited as another Cyborg.

Sebastian Cardona - from Cyborg #1 (Sept. 2015) - in Detroit, was on football team at a rival school to Victors.

Cisco Ramon- well, Vibe in the comics.

Bash Bashford - a Smallville character from Superboy #157 (June 1969)

Bonus round, the Detroit locale the team celebrated at was Pingree's Ice Cream Shop from the Cyborg comics circa 2016.

-Another Freak

Harper Row - Batman Vol 2 #1 (Nov. 2011) - bit of a electronics whiz who becomes Bluebird in the Bat Family.

Lenore Parris - Super Friends comic in 1970s - science teacher at Gotham Central High School, appeared in Wonder Twins back up stories as they went to the school in their Fleming twins guise.

Eddie Corliss - Titans Hunt (2016) - a cop and son of Mayor Corliss. But in this ep they made his a student, the one who calls Violet and Fred freaks. Not named in the episode, just in credits.

Allen Phaedon - from Firestorm comics - he was doing miniaturization research at the Detroit S.T.A.R. Labs. Also not named in the episode, just in the credits.

And I suspect, the two girl students who look at each other after Violet and Fred intro themselves to the class maybe revealed later as DC characters. lol.

-Nightmare Monkeys

Doom Patrol should be pretty clear cut.

The paramedics are Casey Brinke and Sam Reynolds from the 2016 Doom Patrol comics. And yes, the YJ versions here actually first appeared in chapter 2 of the Outsiders tie-in comic.

And I suspect, who was the actor of Ensign Valiant and Harvey, who played the Klamulon Commander might be stealth DC characters, too.

-True Heroes

Mister Bliss - Starman Vol. 2 #7 (May 1995) - circus barker that was really an incubus. Yeah.

Onslaught - the other name of Jihad from the Suicide Squad comics. And earlier this season, we saw Jaculi who was a member in the comics.

And those 3 metas freed could be DC characters, too. There was one blonde girl that spoke French,

I thought he was Ronnie Raymond for a second there. I don't know why .

1/27: I made a mistake. Eddie dates back even further. His 'fan letter' to the sidekicks influences them to start up Teen Titans. The fight against Mister Twister in Brave and the Bold Vol 1 #54.

7/2: Okay, did my 1st pass and updated for episodes 14-16 in the first post.

Influence

New characters: Hro Talak, Angel O'Day, Lena Luthor, Big Barda, Lashina, Gilotina

Hro Talak - A version of Katar Hol created for Justice League (animated series) "Starcrossed", former fiancee of Shayera Hol who fell in love with John Stewart. War changed him and he was willing to sacrifice planets, including Earth, to defeat the Gordanians.

Angel O'Day - Showcase #77 (1968) - A non-powered girl who grew up in a family of supers so she over performed in school and learned anything from fencing, martial arts, sharpshooting and foreign language. Started a detective agency with Sam Simeon, a telepathic gorilla from Gorilla City who happened to be the grandson of Gorilla Grodd.

Lena Luthor - Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #23. (1961) - Lex Luthor's sister, friend of Supergirl, and often distances herself from the Luthor name

Big Barda - Mister Miracle #4. (1971) - A New God on Apokolips who was on the Female Furies but due to her upbringing and falling in love with Scott Free, defected and fled to Earth

Lashina - Mister Miracle #6. (1972) - A Female Fury who uses energy whips

Gilotina - Mister Miracle #6. (1972) - A Female Fury reputed to be able to chop through anything with her bare hands but she uses blades, too

Unknowns: 2 metas show in a cell

Voice actor debuts: Troy Baker as Guy Gardner, Zehra Fazal as Hawkwoman, James Arnold Taylor as Hawkman

References: Mogo, Condiment King

Mogo - Green Lantern (Volume 2) #188. (1985) - a sentient planet who is a Green Lantern assigned to Space Sector 2261. He doesn't socialize.

Condiment King - first created in Batman: The Animated Series "Make 'Em Laugh" then a new version was adapted into the comics by Paul Dini and Randy Rogel for Batman Vol 3 #9 (December, 2016). Commits crimes using guns that shoot different condiments, and uses matching groanworthy puns.

Bonus: Hro refers to Hawkwoman by her maiden name, Thal, even though she's long been married. Very kakash.

Leverage

New characters: Dmitri Pushkin/Rocket Red #4, Olga Ilyich/Rocket Red #1 (counted for now), Captain Boomerang, Wendy Jones/Windfall, Celia Windward

Dmitri Pushkin - Justice League #3 (July, 1987) - a Rocket Red with a taste for America, served on both Justice League International and Europe.

Olga Ilyich - Captain Atom #31 (July 1989) - a combo of two characters: Ilyich was a member of the Renegade Rockets but he died, Olga is a friend of Dmitri Pushkin and one of the few people he trusts but she was forced to help develop tech for the Renegade Rockets.

Captain Boomerang - The Flash #117 (December, 1960) - recurring Flash enemy and member of the Suicide Squad

Wendy Jones - Batman and the Outsiders #9 (April, 1984) - A young metahuman who gained wind powers after her mother let her company perform prenatal DNA experiments on her and her sister Becky, originally on the Masters of Disaster then switched to the Outsiders, raped by fraternity in college and suffocated them to death, ended up on the Suicide Squad

Celia Windward - Millennium #2 (January, 1988) - a young Jamaican woman living in Great Britain, to whom a Guardian of the Universe and Zamaron gave the power to control electromagnetic energies as part of a Millennium Project, gathering 10 people together and teaching them about the nature of the cosmos, they endowed their "Chosen" with immortality and metahuman powers and formed the team, the New Guardians. Took the name Jet and displayed sound manipulation, darkness manipulation, thermal blasts, and flight. Contracted AIDS during a mission. Later joined the Global Guardians.

Unknowns: Russian scientist assisting Reds

References: Rick Flag, John Economos

Rick Flag - The Brave and the Bold #25. (1959) - elite soldier working for Task Force X and the leader of the Suicide Squad

John Economos - Suicide Squad #1 (May 1985) - warden of Belle Reve

Bonus: J Anson Schwartz a nod to DC writer Julius Schwartz?

Illusion of Control

Notes: Celia Windward is named in credits and her VA debuts this episode, Lauren Tom

7/9: First Impression

New Characters: Gaby Gabrielli, Patrick Maguire, Antonia Rodriguez, Tommi Thompkins, Thomas Thompkins, Cairo DeFrey, Scorpia A'Daire

Patrick Maguire and Thomas Thompkins are from the original Newsboy Legion, who debuted in Star-Spangled Comics #7. (1942) while Gaby is a new take on Gabby, Antonia is a new take on Antonio, and Tommi.

Cairo DeFrey was a member of criminal organization Scorpio and appeared first in the Peter Cannon comic in 1992.

Scorpia was the leader of the aforementioned Scorpio and first appeared in Power Company #1 in 2002.

Unknown: Missing teen on holo screen in Watchtower, just a Royal Guard with Lagoon Boy?

7/16: Early Warning

New characters: Ramon Bracuda, Bethany Lee

???: Maria Garcia, Luis Garcia, the other 6 meta-teens, 8th one probably Lorena Marquez?

Ramon Bracuda appeared in Showcase '93 #1 (January 1993) and was a new crimelord in Brideshead, Gotham City. Came into conflict with Catwoman. Bit his men to death for failure.

Bethany Lee appeared in Hourman #1 (April 1999), ex-wife of Snapper Carr and daughter of a chief of police (hence why Bethany was a cop in this episode)

Bonus: Bethany alludes to Harper Row's father who was Marcus Row in the comics, a criminal in-an-out of prison

7/23: Elder Wisdom

New characters: General M'barra, Lia Briggs

Referenced: Hippolyta

New codename: Eduardo Dorado Jr. is El Dorado

Bonus: Helena Sandsmark debuts in the series after making her first appearance in the Legacy video game.

7/30: Quiet Conversations

New name characters: Gog, Cullen Row, Metron (and technically Calvin Durham)

Gog: One of the Old Gods of the Third World, those who proceeded the New Gods of the Fourth World, aka New Genesis and Apokolips. He was the only one who fled his world before it was destroyed. In one story, he was discovered underground in the Congo but head was eventually relocated to the Source Wall. First appeared in JSA Vol. 3 #12 (March 2008)

Cullen Row: Brother of Harper Row, bullied for being homosexual. First appeared in Batman Vol. 2 #2 (October 2012)

Metron: One of the New Gods. On an endless quest to know all. Takes no side in the conflict between New Genesis and Apokolips. His curiosity often supersedes moral implications. First appeared in New Gods #1 (March 1971)

Calvin Durham: An ex-merc with the ability to breathe underwater. Originally was a henchman of Black Manta but realized the error of his ways. Later became the mayor of Sub Diego, California. First appeared in Aquaman #57 (September 1977)

Characters from the comics debuting on the show: Sha'lain'a and Calvin Durham

New Designations: Unnamed Meta-Teen is A-41 and Silas Stone is A-42.

Other noteworthies: Source Wall, Mobius Chair, Minosyss

Source Wall: A solid barrier surrounding the Multiverse, beyond which lies the Source. On the wall are those who tried to breach it and became part of it, namely the Promethean Giants - dead gods/cosmic beings and anyone else foolish enough to try their luck. It's said they tried to discover the answers to the mysteries of the cosmos so they enlarged themselves in size to smash the wall in unison. Closest point to the wall in space is the Promethean Galaxy. First appeared New Gods #5 (November 1971)

Mobius Chair: A time-space/dimensional vehicle that allows Metron to travel and observe the universe.

Minosyss: An ancient planet orbited by an asteroid field and site of the Nexus Zone, a natural warp for cross dimensional travel. Controllers used it for a weapons factory because it had a special ore that was immune to Sun-Eaters, and thus used to imprison them after they were constructed. A stargate was also constructed. But it was abandoned. Then the Titans of Greek Myth tried using it for their own goals. First appeared in DC Special: The Return of Donna Troy #2 (September 2005)

8/6: Unknown Factors

New name characters: Overlord, Evelyn Fox, Rhea Malia Beecher Duncan

Overlord: A criminal mastermind that tried to subjugate Earth. (Super Friends #11 May 1978) Granny's most loyal subject, created the X-Pit for her (Mister Miracle #2 1971)

Evelyn Fox: A medical doctor and former love interest of Adam Strange. (Adam Strange #1 March 1990)

Rhea Malia Beecher Duncan: Karen and Malcolm had an unnamed daughter. (Titans Hunt #7)

Referenced: Yuga Khan, Ryan Choi, Infinity Inc.

Overlord is from Mister Miracle #2 (1971)
8/6: Nice! The first appearance of Granny if I'm not mistaken. Wow, Bourassa was spot on with his take on the design. Interesting that in the comic, Overlord created the X-Pit for Granny.

8/13: Antisocial Pathologies

New name characters: Trajectory (and 2 unnamed teammates that could be Amazing Woman and Everyman?)

Trajectory: Eliza Harmon was given super speed by Lex Luthor's Everyman Project and joined his Infinity, Inc. team. (52 #17 2006)

8/20: Terminus

New name characters: Elongated Man

Elongated Man: A superhero with the power of elasticity, he can stretch his body to the greatest of lengths and is one of the world's greatest detectives. (The Flash #112 May 1960)

8/27: So more or less, season 3 introduced 120-121 new name DC characters.

Tod Donner (Captain Atom #3 May 1986): Tod Donner is the host of TV topical affairs/chat show "Nightzone" and a pastiche of real-life American news anchor and journalist Ted Koppel who presented a show called "Nightline" on ABC from 1980 to 2005. Donner moderates an interview of Captain Atom presenting his fabricated origin to the public for the first time.

Pete Danbury (Action Comics #831 January 2005): Pete Danbury filled in for Jack Ryder on the Channel 6 news during Doomsday's return to Metropolis.

Magog (Kingdom Come #1 May 1996): Magog us a cybernetically enhanced super-soldier who wields a powerful energy lance. Whether this Earth-16 is David Reid who had a small cameo in season 1's "Failsafe" -- time will tell.

9/14: The Prize

New name characters: Warden Economos

Voice sub: Nolan North as Monsieur Mallah

Voice debut: Brandon Vietti as Economos

Designations: Lian Nguyen Harper is A28, Amistad Ervin is A29, and Guardian is A45.
