DISNEY XD ORDERS SECOND SEASON OF "AARON STONE"
AND ANNOUNCES ROCKIN' NEW SITCOM, "VIPER SLAP"

Disney XD has renewed its flagship series "Aaron Stone" for a second season and has ordered a new original sitcom, "Viper Slap" (working title), about a teenage boy who is living his dream as the new lead guitarist of his favorite rock band and is determined to help his new misfit band mates make an epic comeback.

Offering a point of view that's fresh, compelling and embraces the world of kids age 6-14, especially boys, Disney XD presents a mix of live-action and animated programming with themes of discovery, accomplishment, sports, adventure and humor. Disney XD is available on TV, online, VOD and mobile devices.

Since its February debut, Disney XD ratings are up 26% among Kids 6-14 and 20% among Boys 6-14 compared to last year, and, among the older 9-14 set, Disney XD is up 50% among Tweens 9-14 and 54% among Tween Boys year to year.

The live-action adventure series "Aaron Stone" will resume production in Toronto in June. Since its February launch, "Aaron Stone" has improved the network's year-ago ratings by 16% in Total Viewers, by 67% among Kids 6-14 and by 77% among Boys 6-14. In its primary Monday timeslot, "Aaron Stone" also holds a considerable advantage over Nicktoon's "Wolverine & X-Men"/"El Tigre," surpassing the key boy-target competition by 134% in Total Viewers, by 243% in Kids 6-14 and by 287% in Boys 6-14. Versus programming on The N, "Aaron Stone" defeats its timeslot competitor ("Zoey 101") by 75% in Total Viewers, by 32% in Kids 6-14 and by 184% in Boys 6-14.

"Aaron Stone" is centered on a world champion video game player whose expertise lands him a cool role as a secret hero who must protect the world from the threats of the Omega Defiance. Starring are Kelly Blatz, J.P. Manoux, Tania Gunadi and David Lambert. "Aaron Stone" is executive-produced by Bruce Kalish and Suzanne French and is a production of Shaftesbury Aaron Stone Inc.

"Viper Slap," a multi-camera sitcom, will begin production in July. It introduces a teenager named Ryan Hayes who gets the chance to be the new lead guitarist in his favorite "vintage" rock band, Viper Slap, and now is determined to help the band he idolizes make an epic comeback. He's certainly got his work cut out for him because the band is a trio of rock star misfits who've fallen so far that they're forced to take up residence in Ryan's house. Nonetheless, in their own off the wall way, they'll do their best to help Ryan navigate his teenage years with the goal of turning him into a bona fide rock star. Starring are Logan Miller, Steve Valentine, Greg Baker and Stephen Full. Created by Michael Kaplan ("Frasier," "Girlfriends") and Ron Rappaport, the series executive producers are Michael Kaplan ("Frasier," "Girlfriends") and Richard Gurman ("Married…with Children," "Still Standing").

Source: Nielsen Media Research, (6:00 – 6:00 a.m.), Disney XD (02/13/09-04/26/09) vs. Toon Disney (2/15/08-4/27/08). "Aaron Stone" (Mondays, 7:00 – 7:30 p.m., 2/16-4/20/09).

Aaron Stone had already been revealed in the Aaron Stone talkback thread. Also, I don't know what data Disney XD is evaluating with if they are comparing Wolverine and the X-Men premieres to Aaron Stone premieres, because there data is certainly false. If they are comparing it to the Monday night reruns, it's possible.

Viper Slap sounds like a Hannah Montana for guys, except he isn't singing and is instead helping the band. I hate it when they reuse ideas, because they typically don't work when they cross genders like that.

How does Aaron Stone crush Wolverine and the X-men?
Sigh. Did you not read the first post.

Again, I say this i inaccurate because they are comparing Wolverine reruns to Aaron Stone premieres. Compare the actual premiere numbers, and Stone is probably being crushed by NickToons, which is experiencing record highs with Wolvy and Iron Man on Friday's.

If 'Stone's being crushed by the Marvel toons on Nicktoons, this is one big gamble Disney's making. I say if the show starts to flop again, then they better get merchandise to help make the money that they spent on Season 2's episodes back.

No, it's not a gamble. What it says is that Stone is beating them on Monday nights, which is one of the many times they show reruns of Wolverine and the X-Men. It's probably also one of the big reasons they are moving half their premieres back to Monday night in the summer. When you have a network that is 26% higher than Toon Disney/ Jetix was, and when it is clear that it is the highest rated show on Monday nights for Disney XD, or at least it was until The Spectacular Spider-Man came to XD, it can never be considered a flop. Honestly, most peple say the show flopped because XD lowered the number of airings, but they never had any evidence to back that statement up. Stone has never flopped for XD, and the evidence that is needed is there in the press release announcing the second season.
