RIP Gilbert Gottfried, Voice of Mister Mxyzptlk

Gilbert Gottfried passed away at the age of 67. While he had many roles throughout his career, both as an actor and a voice-actor, I thought it would be appropriate to have a topic only about his portrayal of Mister Mxyzptlk on this board. He played the character in only 2 episodes of Superman: The Animated Series, but later returned to voice the character for a few appearances on Justice League Action, or a couple of LEGO DC video games.

Gottfried brought a lot to the character and made him more entertaining. He's also probably the most recognizable voice for Mxyzptlk, not to dismiss the likes of Frank Welker, Dwight Schultz or Kevin Michael Richardson or others who have also had the pleasure of voicing the imp.

When I think of Mxy in animation, Gottfried is definitely who I think of. And no one captured his irreverence and annoying personality quite so well.

RIP Gillbert Gottfried.

I left my thoughts in Entertainment thread. However, yes, he will certainly be missed. Every actor who plays Mxy will be compared to him.

I was saddened to hear the news. His turn as Mxyzptlk was memorable and I was glad to hear it again in Justice League Action and Lego Batman 3. He will be missed.

I was really saddened to hear this. Gottfried was on my list of people I wanted to interview for my book about the DCAU, and I hate that I'll never get to talk to him now.
