got an xbox 360 for christmas last year, but outside of demos, my first titles came throughout 2023:

-spongebob heropants (sadly 16:9 only, but thankfully the only other game i have physically without 4:3)
-plants vs. zombies/zuma/peggle pack
-big bumpin
-sneak king
-pocketbike racer
-rayman raving rabbids (sadly 16:9 only, which is stupid on ubisoft since all other vers sans pc are 4:3 only)
-the legend of spyro: dawn of the dragon
-shrek the third
-the incredible hulk
-hulk ultimate destruction (bc; i discovered from this title that og xbox games with 16:9 only display that way if the 360 itself is set to that, which is kinda stupid)
-tork: prehistoric punk (bc)
-lego star wars ii: the original trilogy

Thanks for finding last year's thread, Wonderfly! Whenever I tried to search the forums via the Wayback machine it wouldn't give me any results.

some post Christmas day updates now that I bought stuff on the xbox live marketplace:

-spongebob squarepants: underpants slam! (despite the weird sorta-stretched looking hud, its 16:9 only. i am 2 for 2 in spongebob 360 games with no 4:3 i am in anguish. everything else is 4:3 though)
-saints row 1
-pac man and the ghostly adventures 2
-viva pinata: party animals (my main driving force for this was its demo being 16:9 only, which sadly isnt the only time this has happened on the 360)
-crash bandicoot: the wrath of cortex
-grabbed by the ghoulies
-raze's hell
-black

also found out that lego star wars ii has a bloom filtering option in it, so naturally i put it at a full 10/10 (the only way to play it)

also also!! just ordered pirates of the carribbean: at world's end (like party animals, the game's in 4:3 [only on the ps3 it seems? bizarre choice, wonder if any other game was like this on the 2 platforms] but its demo wasn't) and open season. both are expected to arrive on new years eve, so thats convenient.

It felt like I didn't buy as much this year as I have in previous years. "Real Life" stuff going on, finances were a bit tighter this year. As such, I tended to focus on playing games obtained with my "PlayStation Plus Premium" Subscription (and with the recent price increase on that, I'm thinking of dropping that down to just "Playstation Plus Essential", but we'll see).

So as far as games I've purchased in the last year:

Physical copies:

For Nintendo Switch:

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
Super Mario Wonder
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Tactics Ogre Reborn

(yes, I tend to only buy physical games with the Nintendo Switch. At least for now.)

Digital Copies:

For Nintendo Switch:

Contra Anniversary Collection
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
Actraiser Renaissance
Road 96: Mile 0
Quake
Quake II

For Playstation 5:
Tales of Zestiria
Watch Dogs: Legion
Axiom Verge
Stray
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge
And I bought the last couple of fighters in "Dragon Ball FighterZ", to finally complete my full set of all characters (last one I bought was Master Roshi).

"Stray" and "TMNT: Shredder's Revenge" are noteworthy as they jumped from "I'm trying these out on PlayStation Plus Extra" to "That's so good, I'll buy a digital copy!".

And through my subscription to "PlayStation Plus Essential", I got ownership to the following digital games over the last 12 months:

Axiom Verge 2
Fallout 76
Mafia: Definitive Edition
OlliOlliWorld
Battlefield 2042
Code Vein
Minecraft Dungeons
Meet Your Maker
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
Tails of Iron
Grid Legends
Chivalry 2
Descenders
NBA 2K23
Jurassic World Evolution 2
Trek to Yomi
Endling: Extinction is Forever
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Alan Wake Remastered
Death's Door
PGA Tour 2K23
Black Desert
Generation Zero
Saints Row (2022 version)
Weird West
Farming Simulator 22
Mafia II: Definitive Edition
Aliens: Fireteam Elite
Dragon Ball: The Breakers
Sable
Lego 2K Drive
PowerWash Simulator

(these are separate from the "Subscription Rental" games in the "PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium" tiers).

And.....that's about it.

I forgot about 3DS eshop closing down this year, so I'll have to buy physical versions of 3DS games.

Nintendo 3DS
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
The Legebd of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Super Princess Peach

I got into Zelda recently, and my acquisition reflects that. I'm actually also curious about the upcoming Princess Peach game, hence getting her DS game.

I didn't buy much this year since I'm not finishing enough games nowadays. Everything was below $60 (80 CAD) so it was financially manageable including a PS5 game even though I don't have the system at the moment. I'll probably stick to just a handful of purchases next year as well. * - digital titles

Nintendo Switch
Signalis
Metroid Prime Remastered
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe
Sonic Superstars
AI: The Somnium Files*
Portal: Companion Collection*
Voice of Cards Trilogy*

Playstation 5
Sonic Origins Plus

I got Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Detective Pikachu Returns and Super Mario Bros. Wonder for the Swtich. I also got the Pokemon Scarlet/Violet DLC, although I don't know if that's counted as a game exactly. It's more like extra content rather than something that I think necessarily needed to be included with the game at launch. I've only played the first half of the DLC and there is going to be a free epilogue included in January, so that could change later.

I didn't get as many new games as usual, but I was okay with that since I spent a good chuck of the year just playing through more of Scarlet/Violet and getting my DLC teams ready. Maybe I'll be able to play more of my games in the new year.
