Having acquired AMC Networks, Canal+ Group announced major restructure of international operations, especially in EMEA region.
First of all, in an effort to make the channel offer more consistent across the globe, non-priority AMC local brands channels will adopt a Canal+-related name (f.e. Spektrum becomes Planete+, Sport 1 channels become Canal+ Sport, TV Paprika will rebrand to Canal+ Paprika and becomes analogue to Cousine+ or Canal+ Kuchnia, while Minimax channels will adopt Teletoon+ name). It will also allow the company to launch the channels in more countries.
Secondly, the management, broadcast and production of all ex-AMC Networks non-live channels in CEE will be moved from Budapest to Canal+ Poland. The Warsaw-based branch will become not only the main broadcasting hub for Poland and CEE., but also for non-French pan-regional channels and the ones in emerging markets (Scandinavia, GAS, Benelux, the Baltics, Ukraine, CIS states (excluding Russia and Belarus), Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Israel and MEA). Canal+ Magyarorszag will be still responsible for production/playout of Sport 1 channels and playout of Canal+ Hungarian feeds. The same office will continue managing JimJam global feeds until the channels rebrand to MiniMini+ or Piwi+ depending on region (JimJam brand, characters, trademarks, Polish feed along with related programming rights were sold to Telewizja Polsat, with Canal+ being allowed as per transfer agreement to use the sold assets outside Poland for up to 3 years after the sale).
After the reorganization, the other regional Canal+ hubs will be: Francophone Europe (Canal+ Group's main hub), South Western Europe (covering Iberia and Italian-speaking territories), UK (British Isles - former AMC Zone). They will be responsible for management and playout of each Canal+ and AMC channel in their respective territories.
