There's no rule of thumb with channels.

If WBD EMEA wants Cartoonito to be CN-lite or a more family friendly and less pushy CN, let be it, particularly with countries which have no Boomerang

Though CN is already quite soft compared to what it used to be.

This year, unlike any other, Cartoonito CEE (formerly known as Boomerang CEE) didn't do any switch to the Winter channel bug. It's already 16th December and it's the same normal bug. Neither did CN CEE, for the matter (I already talked about it on the other thread), but at least that channel still bothers to show holiday-related station idents. Cartoonito still is rotating at this point the normal station idents with the characters and such!

I know they probably didn't even create any new idents to be used, which yeah, is tragic as it sounds, but still. It's the very first year when they didn't do this change of the bug and it's somehow worrying. What can I say, it's probably they really stopped caring...

Hm, I guess since climate is changing and there will be much less snow, I guess it makes sense. Why would you want a snowy bug if the snow is going to melt? It's actually melting right now in a lot of Europe. Seriously though, they are probably lazy. Don't be surprised at this point.

Cartoonito CEE Schedule and Highlights for January 2024

- Thomas and Friends: All Engines Go returns to the schedule, with new episodes (S2.3) beginning from 8th January and airing daily at 15:00 CET. Reruns will be the day after at 09:55 CET. The batch will go on until 20th January.
- There will also be new, never-before-aired minisodes of Thomas & Friends that will be spread this month, starting from 1st January and airing daily at 10:15 CET (with reruns at 15:20 CET).
- Also returning this month, with new premieres, is Toad & Friends. S1.2 of the series will start from 15th January and will air daily at 15:30 CET, with reruns at 18:00 CET and on the day after at 11:30 CET. This latest batch of episodes will last until 27th January.
- The Christmas Storytime block will go on and also air on 1st January, from 07:00 till 09:55 CET, after which it will be officially over and the normal line-up resumes. Also, the show airing on that day will be Mr. Bean.

Schedule changes:
- The biggest highlight is Cocomelon being gone. Already from 1st January, its 06:00 CET hour will be taken over by more of Mr. Bean (so on 01/01, it will air both in the regular line-up and also on the Christmas marathon)
- Thomas & Friends and Toad & Friends both return from 1st January. Thomas will air at 09:55 and 15:00 CET, while Toad & Friends will be shown at 11:30, 15:30 and 18:00 CET. They will replace all of the slots of Baby Looney Tunes and Interstellar Ella, kicking them off from the line-up.
- Lu and The Bally Bunch also returns this month, or at least the minisodes, which will get new filler airtime at 15:50 CET (from 01/01), plus at 22:50 CET later on (from 12/01). Though, they aren't going to be aired really everyday, it seems.

They just can't sacrifice any of their multiple Tom and Jerry or Mr. Bean slots and replace it with the show that is returning. Seriously now, it's ridiculous that they always have to remove one show which recently returned ENTIRELY in favor of another series which is coming back. It's worse than how CN CEE does things.

No Christmas screenbug for Cartoonito Nordic. I'm not surprised because Boomerang and CN Nordic haven't had the Christmas logo since 2017. So the fact you guys from CEE got it until last year, be happy for that at least.

Keep in mind that Russia is a snow country. It made sense it was used last year when Boomerang was still broadcast in Russia. Correct me if I'm wrong, it might have been stopped by then but the decision was already made. And you should know that most CEE areas don't have snow. It's not only Romania. Also I think them using the Christmas bug wouldn't make a lot of sense. It doesn't really do anything. They don't need to put it on the playout for 2 months only to just remove it again. At this point keep using the regular logo.

CN IT does it more coherently as the DOGs don't contain snow and aI guess it makes sense, because many areas don't get snow
We get Christmas baubles and more generic stuff

But I also suppose snow is regarded as an "ornamentation" regardless of the weather in Northern hemisphere (temperate) Western societies, while it definitely would make no sense in the southern hemisphere.

Regardless, in high altitude areas of southern Europe (even southern Italy, e.g. Calabria, Basilicata, bits of Sicily, Campania ecc.), and even the Levant (like Lebanon and Israel) you do get some snow, at times even in the plains, in the Winter of course.
And there are many southern Europe areas at a high latitude; it's no Norway but there are some

Cartoonito Nordic Schedule and Highlights for January 2024.

- Tom & Jerry in New York gains entire 45 minute slot replacing the 06:20 slot of Mr Bean. Mr Bean reduces airtime. Mihai will be happy about this. However Mr Bean will gain 09:35 slot from Tom and Jerry but overall Mr Bean still loses 20 minutes of airtime. Don't worry, Mihai.
- Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go returns with new episodes airing daily at 14:35 replacing Moley and Toad and Friends. Thus this forces Moley to be taken off the lineup entirely.
- Lucas the Spider replaces Lu and the Bally Bunch which means that the latter will only air in the mornings from now on.

So yeah, like I said, while Bean gains, it also overall loses 20 minutes of airtime. It was in the morning double bill slot before. While I'm happy about it, I also don't mind the show being on a family entertainment channel. It's obvious what their strategy is. This isn't just a preschool channel like the US markets.
