Faithful fairy / folk tales?

Have you come across any faithful animated fairy or folk tales? by faithful I mean sticking to the original endings at the very least, but the more accurate the better.

Classic Tales by Neptuno Films is the only cartoon series I have watched, which kept the original stories, as best I could tell. I noticed even the more recent Folktales from Japan, changed the endings in some cases.

The 1975 Japanese Little Mermaid adaptation is relatively faithful, as is the the 1968 Soviet version.
