Do you think even the Warner Bros originals such as Jellystone, Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs, Tom & Jerry in New York, and Looney Tunes Cartoons also could've easily aired on CN first and then release on Max a day later?
Yes, absolutely. I can somewhat understand why they have put up on Max, but putting it on Cartoon Network first would've give the shows first major exposure. It just so sad they seem to abandoned that.

2022 is again a mixed year for Cartoon Network that continues to be hit with shakeups.

This year was when AT&T sold Warner Bros to Discovery and put David Zaslav in great power of Warner Bros, making quite an impact immediately. In the process, Tom Ascheim would leave in May and be replaced by Michael Oulween as the current head of Cartoon Network.

One of the impacts of the Discovery merger was the new rebranding of Cartoon Network. With the promo department getting a downgrade in budget thanks to Zaslav, the Redraw Your World branding was replaced with the more cheaper Pastel branding, featuring clips of their shows (a throwback to Check It 4.0’s up next bumpers and some of the mashup bumpers done in Check It 2.0) in the cheapest way possible.

This was also the last year that they ever had the 8 PM hour at all, even for a temporary period of time.
For programming blocks, New Saturdays is still going on as the premiere home for every show. ACME Night is still going strong too, albeit with Bob’s Burgers being the only ACME Night filler aside from a couple Wipeout airings. Guessing the strategy of airing live action sitcoms on the block as filler didn’t work. Cartoonito continues to be reduced with the weekend hours being completely gone in January, 11 AM hour was gone in February, 10 AM hour was gone in June (but regained in September), and 6 AM hour was gone in October.

For acquired shows outside of Cartoonito, Total DramaRama was doing okay but not as big as it was before. Lamput briefly aired for a few months on Sunday mornings at 6 AM before being dropped.

For Warner Bros originals, Teen Titans Go reliance is getting less and is the first year since 2014 where it aired less than 2000 half hours in a year. Baby Looney Tunes left in February when Cartoonito hours got reduced. The original Teen Titans returned again on weekend mornings (replacing the lost Cartoonito hour time slot). Looney Tunes Cartoons returned briefly in April. DC Super Hero Girls aired its big finale movie this year, with an all week marathon of Teen Titans Go to build up to it. Scooby Doo and Guess Who also came back to rerun during October for Halloween season. WBA would also throw their hat into Cartoonito with Bugs Bunny Builders and Batwheels, though the latter already premiered on Max first. Wabbit/New Looney Tunes would make a return too in November on weekday mornings.

For CN originals, things get interesting. Craig of the Creek is still getting more love and even had some points in the first half of the year where it aired more than Teen Titans Go and Gumball until both shows regained their grip in the second half. Victor and Valentino is getting even less airtime, with barely any reruns (only reruns being on Valentine’s Day) when it wasn’t airing new episodes at 6 PM on the bomb format. Eventually, the show burned off its final episodes in August with the show getting removed off the network shortly afterward and also got removed from Max due to the Discovery merger. This was despite a season 4 being planned before the big merger happened. We Baby Bears premieres and is getting off to a great start.

For the ended CN originals, things continue to get better.

Gumball is still their top show, but reliance is getting a lot less, with this being the first year since 2017 where it went below 2000 half hours of airing in a year.

Ben 10 2005 returned at 6 AM for a couple months to fill in the hour left by Cartoonito reduction.
February marked brief returns for several ended originals with Clarence airing on Valentine’s Day and the President’s Day week having various hour long blocks at 3 PM of the ended originals such as We Bare Bears, Chowder, Regular Show, Clarence, and Adventure Time.

Regular Show and We Bare Bears returned again on April Fools Day.

Adventure Time returned for a 2 hour marathon on April 24 and We Bare Bears followed suit for a longer 7 hour marathon a week later and on June 5.

Steven Universe returned for a week from 6-8 PM on the final week of June for Pride Month.

Regular Show returned again on July 9 for one day and Adventure Time and Steven Universe followed suit two and three weeks later.

We Bare Bears would return for weekday reruns in July regularly.

Things got really good in September and October 1st where more shows returned to air reruns in honor of the channel’s 30th anniversary, especially during the primetime hours from 6 to 8 PM.

And during October, Courage the Cowardly Dog aired reruns at 8 PM for Halloween season.

When the Halloween season ended in November, Regular Show would air on the 8 PM hour for a couple weeks.

And like last year, the holiday episodes of the ended shows would air during December for holiday season on Friday nights.

2022 is quite a mixed bag of a year. There were positives such as the continued ACME Night and Cartoonito, better variety (being the first year since 2014 where no show went above 2000 half hours of airtime), and actually acknowledging their legacy for their 30th anniversary (better than the 25th by a landslide). However, there are already problems starting to come up thanks to the infamous Discovery merger with the cancellation of Victor and Valentino and the downgrade in branding (this is only talking about the channel, so the effects Zaslav had on stuff that didn’t affect CN won’t be mentioned) and it'll likely show more as the next year goes on.

2022 was definitely a mixed bag for Cartoon Network.

On one hand, they are actually doing fantastic by having a great mixture between the old stuff and the new stuff for their 30th anniversary for almost the entire year, and does seems like CN was starting to improving themselves.

But on the other hand,........we have Warner Bros Discovery..

Yeah, I'm not going through that again.

Which is a shame because CN could've a great 30th anniversary celebration. Unfortunately, the merger decided to ruin everything for everyone...

Anyone find how with the timing of when Chowder came out, it was technically the only show that got to air on Friday nights (given Fried Dynamite was just a retooled version of Fridays), Thursday nights, and Monday nights. This does make it interesting knowing Chowder's first season was aired alongside the CN City era shows (such as KND, Billy & Mandy, Foster's Home, Camp Lazlo, and My Gym Partner's a Monkey) when they were airing their final episodes either on Fried Dynamite or Har Har Tharsdays during Fall 2007-Spring 2008 while the third and final season aired alongside Adventure Time as it was airing its first season during 2010 either on Har Har Tharsdays or Monday Nights.

Plus how despite cancelling Chowder in May 2009 due to wanting to focus more on live action stuff like Destroy Build Destroy, live action stuff was already getting downplayed by the time Chowder's final episode premiered in August 2010 with original CN animation rising again with Adventure Time's success and Regular Show only being a month away, likely feeding into why Chowder aired so much in 2010 (the most it aired in one year).

Makes me wonder what would've happened if the CN higher ups had held back on deciding to cancel Chowder for at least one more year. Given by 2010 it was clear live action wasn't their future, would they have actually renewed Chowder for a season 4 and have it teamed up with Adventure Time and Regular Show on Monday Nights? Chowder was clearly doing pretty well for its entire run after all.
