"Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings" (spoilers)

SEGA has revealed today that an all-new animated web short meant to be a prequel to the Shadow story in "Sonic X Shadow Generations" starring Shadow the Hedgehog is coming. The short will be titled "Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings" and will be peeked first at Anime Expo 2024 as part of a panel titled "A New Era of Shadow: Shedding Light on the Ultimate Life Form". The panel will take place during AX at the Petree Hall on Saturday July 6th at 12:30 PM PT/3:30 PM PT and will feature special guests including Takashi Iizuka, Kirk Thornton (aka the voice of Shadow) and Stephanie Sheh.

"In time for Sonic X Shadow Generations‘ release later this year, SEGA has announced that an all-new animated short film that acts as a prequel to the Shadow the Hedgehog story in Sonic X Shadow Generations will premiere later this summer. The upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations will feature two high-speed adventures in one package, not only it will feature a re-release of SEGA’s 2011 smash hit Sonic Generations complete with upgraded 60FPS and HD graphics, but there will be an all-new story featuring Shadow as a playable character for the first time since 2017’s Sonic Forces, in which he will face-off against some of his past foes. The short, titled “Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings” will take the spotlight at Anime Expo 2024.

The panel, titled “A New Era of Shadow: Shedding Life on the Ultimate Life Form” will take place at Petree Hall on July 6th at 12:30 PT. There, we’ll be able to join special guests including Kirk Thornton, Stephanie Sheh and Takashi Iizuka as they discuss all about Shadow which includes a sneak peek at the new animation. The short will feature Thornton reprising his role as Shadow while Sheh will voice Maria. Anime Expo will also take suggestions and questions to ask at the panel."
