A Western animation Ultraman? Not sure how to feel about that .

I hope it's truer to the source than the Netflix cartoon .

I'm hoping that if this movie becomes a hit, then it'll convince Tsuburaya to make more animated adaptations of Ultraman (Anime, Western, or otherwise).

I started the series that is on Netflix, but never got around to finishing it. Most of my Ultraman experience comes from Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad and once watching the animated movie Hanna Barbera was involved with.

All they have to do is put out a good looking product to get my attention.

Not sure why this thread was never updated, but the movie releases June 14, 2024 on Netflix. Here is the teaser trailer released back in November:

Coming at this as an Ultraman novice, that was a great superhero film. Ken was a solid protagonist. The action and animation were fantastic.

I think the conflict is a little muddled, though. Maybe it's more clear in the other iterations of the franchise. There's a focus on Ultraman's duty to protect both humanity and the kaiju, but it's not clear why kaiju leave their island to attack Japan in the first place.

The CSC Channels prior to 2017 were actually amazing. A shame it was all thrown under the bus.
Lesson learned. Never talk to anyone ever.
