Underrated and Overrated cartoons

I don't take sides at all here because frankly, the entire thread is nothing but personal opinion.

It strikes me as funny how different opinions are too. Someone can say something bad about one little thing and all heck breaks loose.

It does irk me when it's forgotten that they're only opinions, and not set-in-stone truths for the universe. It's like the Best and Worst polls. It's not like we write history with these sorts of things. We just get an idea of who likes and dislikes what.

Everyone on the thread just needs to remember to be fair to each other. Be happy people.

Underrated:

1) New TMNT: One cannot say enough good about this series. Finally a version of TMNT that Mirage fans can be proud of.
2) Batman: TAS: It really set the table for darker and more action packed cartoons like the new TMNT.
3) Batman Beyond: This took action cartoons to a new level. It's extremely underrated.
4) Pinky & the Brain: What a funny show this was. Very witty and clearly aimed at an older audience.
5) South Park: These guys are so current that they almost beat the reporters to the stories. The fact that the show has no limits and makes ANYTHING open to mocking is fantastic.
6) Futurama: The good years of The Simpsons + Sci-fi humor.

Overrated:

1) The Simpsons (last 6 or so seasons)- This show was great in its heyday but that has long past. Just end it already.
2) Family Guy- Don't get me wrong it's funny, but NOWHERE NEAR AS FUNNY as people make it out to be. It is often such a blatant rip off of The Simpsons in their prime, only without the heart.
3) X-Men Evolution: This show is awful and I have no idea how people enjoy it. It pales in comparison to its '90s predecessor.

X-Men (Fox)- I think this series is a poor translation of the comics. Many of the characters were watered down, as was the conflict between the humans and the mutants. Furthermore, there's the rough animation.

Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers- This series is too cutesy for me. A bunch of rescue rodents speaking in annoyingly high voices? No thank you. (High voices turned me off to Alvin and the Chipmunks also.)

underrated:
Gargoyles- This well written, well animated, mature cartoon never got a following like Ducktales or Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers.

Over-rated:
DBZ/GT
Pretty much anything on Nickelodeon, ESPECIALLY Spongebob Squarepants(what could anybody see in that show?)
The *new* transformers series(note the "new". The old ones were good from what I heard.)

Under-rated:
Pretty much any anime plauged with a bad dub, Shaman King & Yu-gi-oh in particular(trust me, those are quite a bit darker & more mature in the original)
.hack//SIGN (probably because of the slow, subtle, but steady pace of the plot combined with not much action. People need to learn to live with shows that aren't all pretty explosions & rapid plot.)
Dragonball(MUCH better than DBZ, but seems to suffer from being connected to it)

SwatKats (you can blame Ted Turner for this ones demise, also contributing to a lesser recognition.)

Overrated:
New TMNT - people are acting like it's God's gift to animation, but it relies too much on samey fight scenes.

Invader Zim - died a martyr, and now has a near-religious following.

Kim Possible - about 50% of the Disney forum is dedicated to discussing this. Huh? Why's it so great?


Underrated:
Avenger Penguins - was never shown in America. Speaks for itself, really.

The Wrong Cartoons Get All the Respect.

OVERRATED:

The Simpsons(The last few seasons) The Storylines are ridiculous and the writing has really become bad. It's had its run, now let it go.
Codename Kids Next Door Cartoon Network really pushes this show...I don't know why.
Ed, Edd, & Eddy Don't get me started on this show. My Head will explode just by talking about it.
Dragon Ball... There are much better Animes than this series.


UNDERRATED:

The Critic This show had geat humor and wit. It should have gone MUCH further.
The Oblongs Again great writing and humor. Why did the WB cancel this show?
Harvey Birdman I think most people don't respond to this show because they don't get some of the jokes or they don't know who some of the old cartoon characters are. I think the entire concept of the show is AWESOME though.
The Weekenders This show is for older kids I think, who can get the wit and sarcasm.
Sailor Moon I think the dubbing had a lot to do with the fact that this show is underrated.
