Rugrats ran from August 11, 1991 to May 29, 1994. It was eventually brought back on December 6, 1996 and continued until June 8, 2004 making it the longest-running Nicktoon in Nick's history. The show mainly focuses on the 4 babies Tommy, Chuckie and Phil and Lil (Tommy's brother Dil and Chuckie's step-sister Kimi joined the show later on in its run) as they go on adventures in Tommy's backyard and beyond. It was created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo, and Paul Germain. It later spawned two spin-off series: All Grown Up! (based off the Rugrats episode "All Growed Up") and Preschool Daze (starring Angelica and Susie as preschoolers.) AGU ran from 2003 until 2008 and Preschool Daze only lasted for 4 episodes released on DVD.

For many, Rugrats is their favorite Nicktoon and have fond memories of watching the episodes as a young kid. Re-live those memories here! Let's get things started with what did you like the most about Rugrats?

I find their mispronunciations entertaining, and their naive understanding of the world amusing. Chuckie once said "the world is my toaster", instead of "oyster" and he was convinced Santa was a mean, fat man who breaks into people's houses (for the quote, look at my sig.)

Rugrats was like my favorite cartoon when i was younger. I still like it now. What I think I liked most about the show is the way it was written. Like the writers just like thought what would babies do if they could talk. i also agree that the babies misunderstanding of things were very entertaining. I liked all the characters. Tommy, Chuckie. Phil, Lil, Angelica and Susie all had great characterictics that made them fun to watch. I think the show went downhill after the rugrats movie because what sense would to be that in a big feature film to bring a brand new baby in to the cast and NOT MAKE HIM TALK!. i mean the show's premise is about talking babies so why cant dil talk like the other babies. it could not be because he was too young because Tommy was only 1 when the series started and he was talking. to me at least made no sense, then the intelligence of the show decreased Tommy was able to say "diaper" now he says "diapie". The show was also getting predictable as each episode was either " Angica misleads the babies somehow" or " Dil causes trouble for the babies and tommy has to be a responsible brother" as a little kid i loved this show even the dill stages but as i got older I saw all of the old school eps and can say that those were better. The kimi eps only got worse in a way im happy they gave chuckie a mom but I kind of think they took a important part of his character out when they did that. i admit i like all grown up especially the last season
any way rugrats was a great series it had a few bumps on the road but all over its is one of my favorite series of all time animated or not. i like to end this by saying NICKELODEON PLEASE GIVE US DVD BOX SETS and make it official with special features instead of a crappy amazon one.

My favorite episodes were those produced by Paul Germain (~1992-1994). They had a dark, cynical edge to them, which was just lacking in all other seasons. Arguably the two episodes that really capture this are "Pickles vs. Pickles", where Angelica sues her parents over forcing her to eat something she doesn't want, and "The Sky is Falling", which has the babies seeking shelter because Angelica is convinced the world will end.

"What the Big People Do" is a favorite of mine too, as the babies have a vision of what adult life and work is like, which of course is completely off the mark. Ah to be young and naive.

this was my favorite show when i was a kid, i loved the mispronounciations, like how Tommy pronounced "George Washington" as "George Washing Machine", But the bast part of the show was definately the baby perspective. My favorite episode was the one where they thought Tommy's grandpa was a superhero, but he was really just a wrestler (or use to be anyway), i think they called him "pretzel maker pickles" or something like that, anyway, he had to wrestle this guy (old rival) and the babies jumped into the ring to help him when he was loosing (other guy cheated), the audience thought they were midgets, gold. Also, Reptar is just awesome.

I really enjoyed it as a kid, I never got to see the episodes of when dil appears and only saw two or three of them. I think those are when the majority the show was no longer as fun. But yeah I loved all the episodes I did see. I haven't watched them since I was a kid but yeah if they were on DVD I'd watch them again.

I also never saw any of the movies, they don't look particularly good though. I also hated the fact that one is a cross-over with the wild thornberries since I didn't like that show and just knowing that the shows are in continuity makes me urrghh.

I got to see a few episodes of All Grown Up and that show is not all bad, I'm sure I would have liked it a lot if I had been a kid when it aired. Though that show does lose a lot of the charm the characters had and interactions its also neat seeing them "grown up".

Always loved Reptar, some of my favorite episodes that I remember from the top of my head:

The one where they get stuck in the toystore and ends with reptar vs king kong or whatever :D
The mini-golf episode.
When Chuckie becomes rich.
The cardboard box episode.
most reptar episodes
the waterpark episode (wait, was there even one?)

My favorite episode was the one where Chucky's clown lamp was broken and the babies and Angelica went to court to find out what happenned. As a matter of fact, my favorite episodes were Angelica when she was a little brat, breaking things, and making the babies think of all kinds of things, because when she got in trouble, it was so worth it watching her

This used to be my favorite show, but I honestly never watched it until 1998. My brorther and I never watched Nick, unless our mom was at work and our dad was home and we watched Nick @ Nite. I remember I got up early one morning in the summer, turned the TV on, Nick was on, I watched Charlie Brown, then Rugrats came on and I loved it:anime:

I remember a few episodes like the time the babies thought Dil was trapped inside the computer and then they printed him out and thought we was turned into a piece of paper or something. :D (This was episode is called "Dil Saver" by the way.)

Then there's the episode "Chuckie's Wonderful Life" where Chuckie wishes he was never born and so the world is completely different. I think Angelica works Tommy's parents and is insanely fat and Phil and Lil are out of control. Funny how the entire world becomes this apocalyptic wasteland (at least that's how I remember it) because one Chuckie Finster wasn't born! :p

My favorite episode is probably the one where the adults are watching football and the kids are imitating the game spot on but instead of a football they use chocolate milk, deedee flips out.

At home, duh.
I don't recall too many episodes but the show certainly had is good moments. I thought they were kind of running on fumes once Dil entered the picture, especially since he didn't, you know, do anything and the writing seemed more focused on gross-out by then. That, and the animation seemed too polished by then. I will say that the show had a good long run that it pretty much deserved. Overall, I'd probably give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

I like this. Let's make more talkbacks for Nickelodeon series in general like this. I've got a lot to say about Angry Beavers.

I miss the Rugrats. They should really come back on weekdays, say at like 5pm or something. It has about 170 episodes I believe. The Rugrats need a revival.

Those darker episodes were some fine stuff. I'm guessing Germain also produced the one where Angelica fantisises about her parents haveing a new baby that turns out to be horrible? (That one always gave me the creeps)
You know, "Pickles vs Pickles" was fantastic when I first saw it as a kid. Then the older I got the more intensely disturbing that episode became.

I remember The Angry Beavers as well. That was a great show. I remember once they stayed up all night and when they finally realized they had stayed up later than just one night, it was like a hundred years into the future.

I miss the Rugrats. They should really come back on weekdays, say at like 5pm or something.
It does come on at 6am or so on Nicktoons Network, but I think they should it air it around that time on the main Nick channel on weekdays so I can watch it in the morning before I go to school. I'd prefer watching one of my favorite cartoons than the rubbish that is The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

What is with my obsession over 90's television? :D

My favorite episodes were those produced by Paul Germain (~1992-1994). They had a dark, cynical edge to them, which was just lacking in all other seasons. Arguably the two episodes that really capture this are "Pickles vs. Pickles", where Angelica sues her parents over forcing her to eat something she doesn't want

Fixed your quote of Boris...

And I saw "Pickles vs. Pickles" recently, but I still don't remember the episode clearly. :D I don't remember anything dark. I did notice baby Stu sounds exactly like Tommy and wears the same brand of "diapies".

I remember the episode about Angelica fearing a new baby brother or sister. Wasn't the baby just a hideous little thing that was a bit on the fat side? I remember a scene where Angelica is looking at her parents amusing the baby through a closet door (because she lost her room to the new baby or something.)

I'll second that, those episodes seemed more in deph then the newest episodes. I don't know, I just liked the earlier episodes better.

At home, duh.
I remember The Angry Beavers as well. That was a great show. I remember once they stayed up all night and when they finally realized they had stayed up later than just one night, it was like a hundred years into the future.

I'd give a kidney to get a hold of some Angry Beavers episodes. I didn't start taping anything until 2003, and Nick's schizophrenic lineup at the time left me in the dark way too often so I only ever got one full eppy.

I absolutely loved Rugrats growing up as a kid. I'm almost certain that it was the first Nicktoon I watched. It successfully captured the world through the eyes of an infant.

Alright, I have heard that Walpurgisnacht Rising is completed, but not released yet. Why?
I quit DA yesterday due to storage reasons and Core blocking me from everything. The account won't be deactivated: it went into the "archival" state.
