This is the voting thread for Round 1 of the Toonzone's 2024 "Battle of the Brackets" (for the "Earssentials" conference)!

Voting is simple: Just post which of the two contestants of the day you find to be more awesome! Please, no editing your posts, once your vote is cast, help simplify things for me and don't change it. So be sure you are certain which one you want to vote for when you post! Feel free to debate it amongst yourselves for a while before casting your votes, but remember: each match runs no more than 24 hours!

I love Lady and the Tramp it doesn't get a lot of recognition compared to the "bigger" princess films from Disney and etc. It's fun with cute dogs it's getting my vote.

I guess Cinderella, but to be perfectly honest, I’m not a huge fan of either of these movies.

I'm voting "Lady and the Tramp". It was my favorite Disney movie before the Disney Renaissance kicked in (starting with "The Little Mermaid"). My reasons are probably personal - I had a Cocker Spaniel when I was a kid that looked a lot like the dog in this film.

I just have good memories associated with this film.

I'll go with Lady and the Tramp. It might be my first Disney movie. It was either that or The Lion King, but I remember having the VHS tape first. My grandmother on my father's side gave it to me. Most of my grandparents passed on before I was born and she passed away when I was three or four, so I don't have any memories of her unfortunately. I just remember this VHS tape with print out version of Lady and Tramp. I like the movie itself. It has some nice charm and it always appealed to me since I'm a huge dog person, but that association makes it stand out for me too.

I like Cinderella, but I haven't seen it as much as Lady and Tramp.

Not every match in this tournament will line up so neatly, but this one definitely has some parallels. Both features come from Disney's silver age, which is roughly from the 50's up until Walt's death in 1967. Both were top performers for the company for ages, raking in millions during their theatrical rerelease cycle and home video releases, to the point that they were a part of the studio's Platinum Collection. And both have notable presence in the parks, including separate restaurants at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom- Cinderella's Royal Table and Tony's Town Square. Personally, I've been to the latter, and let me tell you, you can find better Italian food in your home town. I'd only recommend going if you're into autographs, as you can get Lady and Tramp's paw prints there.

This was a close match, but one with a clear winner.

Cinderella makes it to the next round, which will begin shortly.

I'm going with The Rescuers. I love cats, but Disney has a different movie starring cats that I like a whole lot more.
