Not gonna happen. A movie fills a few slots for one night. The anime cut fills a slot for 11-13 weeks per movie adaption. And then is much easier to slot for a rerun for another 11-13 weeks.
Correct. At the start of the year it didn’t seem like it would be an issue, but now looking at the...
I don’t think they want the expense though. Gundam doesn’t come cheap. And Gundam also doesn’t hold the audience because when you take the nostalgia goggles off, it’s pretty boring.
And that’s a good thing. Kids shows that get an adult version reboot are always terrible. S&P is a great catalyst for actual creative humor. Western adult shows always fall back to excessive swearing and alcoholism as a replacement to actual humor.
Danny was polite there, but there are other...
Sailor Moon is closely associated with the most nostalgic point in Toonami history. It may be a shoujo, but boys were watching it just as much back in the day. All getting it back means is they wanted one of the most iconic Toonami shows for Rewind. And they are kinda limited on their choices...
I can count the amount of comedy series they have aired on one hand. The most prominent is Pop Team Epic, and that was a dive into the deep end abruptly so I’m not surprised it didn’t mesh with the audience.
I don’t think the audience is against comedy anime. Most of us would rather the block...
It’s not anime though. They can call it anime all they want, but that won’t be what it is. It’s Rick and Morty, it would fit anywhere on the network, and more than likely will get an encore run Sunday at midnight where they usually premier shows.
All of them were just a “yea ok” response. They...
They confirmed R&M for Toonami like a month ago. MHA or no MHA, it would be getting midnight. They always give full priority to their originals.
That’s a big reason people were nervous, because up until a few months ago, we were told this would be sub only. A controversial, subbed show in the...
There is some tiny hope to cling to, up to these schedules, Rewind Kai is still not caught up to Saturday Kai. In August, Rewind Kai overtakes Saturday, so perhaps that is when they cut it. You are correct though, I am completely against Rewind if its shows start leaking into Saturday. Here’s an...
Yeesh, that is awful. It’s unacceptable to have entire months like this when they apparently have the funds for a separate block. More incompetence from Demarco.
I’d assume Rick anime takes over midnight on Aug 3, but it wouldn’t surprise me if nothing else changes.
Even though CN is basically dead, I think they still want a gentle transition from CN hours to AS hours. Even before the expansions, KotH and Bobs were the mainstays of 7-8pm. Adult shows, but pretty tame. The cuts to Naruto were pretty minor back when it was on CN, Sailor Moon got a lot more...
Bebop is likely a little too spicy for the 5-7 hours. Plus, they prefer to beat reruns of that to death on Saturdays anyway. Rewind is likely going to be capped at TV 14 content. And even that won’t be the norm.
Demarco is saying it’s fake news
At that point it should just be a new show entirely. With what’s still on the table there isn’t really a good way to make another season that doesn’t feel like a cheap, straight to video spinoff.
He literally admitted in his latest AMA that he didn’t even know that Urusei Yatsura had its new season out. It’s not speculation or exaggeration, he is completely clueless on what’s going on in anime. And the few other people on the staff like Gil are no better. That’s a show 2023 speculators...
I believe there was some early concern that acquisition would take them off the table but I don’t believe we ever saw any evidence that it hurt the blocks means of getting shows from them. Made in Abyss and Food Wars S5 came long after the merger, and Shenmue and Ninja Kamui are actually Sentai...
The Superman slot won’t open till late July, so R&M could fill up to the end of September. Then maybe Uzumaki finally shows up? R&M will likely get a full series marathon as Kamui did, so that can allow them to stall till the first week of October. Of course, this all hinges on Uzumaki actually...
A couple years ago there were a ton of them, weird ones too like entirely different shows from different networks airing on AS. True Crime I think it was?
Toonami bumper errors aren’t rare, they slot the wrong one sometimes. Probably the biggest actual error on Toonami was the 2019 SAO freeze...
If that one newspost is to be believed, Rick and Morty is likely replacing Superman here at the end of July. If so, we will probably get that reveal in the next week or two since AS usually does about 1 month of promotion for one of their new shows.
I believe the last season of MHA started...
I really wanted it to be true but it’s not meant to be. Replacing Zom is a safe bet, but with how CR can be, nothing is ever a guarantee. If they want more time between Toonami and the dub, it could always replace Naruto.
Lazarus likely won’t even air this year at all. If Uzumaki comes, that’s...
Correct, Japanese standards on nudity have changed a lot since then, nipples are exclusive to heavy ecchi series these days. Many manga adaptations that had light nudity have it covered in the anime. These days, it’s hard to even get pantyshots anymore. Unfortunately these changes are all made...
It’s amusing, but will ultimately only be a temporary laugh. It’s very rare for Toonami to land TV MA seinen content, so once Zom ends here in a couple weeks, we are likely going back to a better tone match MHA promos. Really, Zom is the kind of show that usually wouldn’t get promos at all but...
A major factor for the frustration is that certain characters people want, become increasingly irrelevant in the meta the more time that passes. For example, there is huge demand for Atticus in GX world. However, 2 separate Joey releases have funneled most Red Eyes support to him, on top of Red...
Way back when it was revealed as a CN project it was stated to be a 10 episode miniseries. The ending I have to attribute to Genndy’s biggest weakness, pacing. We saw it in Jack, Primal and UWE. Genndy can have a strong start, a strong middle, but when the end is coming up, he fumbles every...
At announcement, there was more positive hype for Rush being added, but that was primarily because people expected a separate currency. There was also some excitement because at first, it seemed like Rush character months would also have a speed character, as the first month after release had...
Those B&M numbers give it some hope that it didn’t. Prior to that, and given AS frantically changing the schedule week to week, it seemed the 5pm hour was pretty dire, like 0.01-0.02. These numbers imply an average of more like 0.05-0.08. Never good enough to chart, but not too bad for 5pm.
As...
The Go Rush dub has to be right around the corner cause Go Rush will be added to Duel Links in September. So they gotta get the cast set for at least the core group of characters.
Rush has not been going over well in Duel Links. But it’s hard to say if it’s because people dislike Rush, or they...
UWE was stated from the start that it would only be 10 episodes. It’s not cancelled, it just never was intended for more to be made.
Still don’t think he should have two active projects at once. Primal needs to have a powerful start to get people back on board after the end of S2 soured them.
That was a big hurdle old Toonami had to deal with. Whatever had toys on the shelf needed to be promoted, even if its show wasn’t very good or didn’t fit the Toonami theme.
You don’t really see that many toy advert shows anymore. I think the only one on cable anymore is Yugioh Sevens and Go...
When there is barely anything else on the block it doesn’t have much competition. If the lineup had more content it probably wouldn’t be doing as well.
I’m like 90% sure I saw the Abraham Lincoln one late last night.
Think it’s still a little too early for that. I’d think they want at least a month of Rewind in the books before making any expanding calls on it. Unless it’s doing incredibly good or incredibly bad.
It doesn’t matter who reports them, they are all pulling from the same source. And by all, I mean SpoilerTV because I don’t think anyone else even does it anymore. But if it was years ago and SonoftheBronx was still reporting, he still would have been pulling from the same chart SpoilerTV does...
I think YYH was more just network mismanagement that actual failure. Everything up till the last round of the Dark Tournament aired in after school hours for a long while cause it kept looping due to the dub going slow. I’m thinking they just didn’t want to edit it any further so they sent it...
That’s not how it’s done. If the show has not aired on AS, it’s considered a premier. Both Kai and Naruto were listed as premiers when they first ran even though Kai was on the CW and Nick, and Naruto was on CN. Following that trend, Sailor Moon should be on the premier chart.
It sucks to think about because they got the formula right TWICE on their first attempt. Adventure Time and Regular Show were hits with all age groups. Those two shows did wonders for revitalizing the network after a sharp falloff from the Real era. But then they kinda just stopped making that...
It was more like immediately. They got a lot of pushback from parent groups that still had clout and pull back in 2011. That episode had its voice track edited to use a more PG word. I don’t think the pissed/hell cut of the episode ever aired again.
I’ll give CN credit here, they tried. I...
Royal Crackers performed great both seasons. You are correct though, no one talks about it. But the ratings are solid. Which is weird but whatever. I believe it was the 4th highest rated show on AS last year, which isn’t too bad.
UWE definitely bombed though, and I expect IFG to follow the...
The lowest a show on Rewind could have done and made the rewind chart was 0.09. And that’s not gonna happen.
It was a toss up if Sailor Moon would be considered a premier. If it was, then it charted a low 0.01 or less and missed the Saturday chart. So hopefully it’s considered a rerun and that...
