I saw the What a Cartoon broadcast yesterday. It was similar to how the toons were shown last week (where they used the Cow and Chicken variant of the What a Cartoon opening on each of the shorts before transitioning to the music from The Cartoon Cartoon Show versions of the pilots for the title and credits of the short (and the credits as well)). However, Tales of Worm Paranoia for some reason (likely for the flashing lights) had no title card or credits. It just transitioned from the What a Cartoon opening to the short itself.

Disappointed nobody wants to talk about this weeks shorts.
Well, there's nothing much else I can really say about them.

Okay, the Worm Paranoia one was WAY too Ren and Stimpy for my taste. It just so ugly to me.

And that Ralph Bashki short was....quite interesting.

Though, the Mina and The Count is the best short, I'll say that.
Why has the warning has CN branding?
I have no idea. It's still so cursed.
I can tell you from what I remember from Boomerang even not to mention how these aired on CN that these airings are a mess. But because the show will never be on dvd we have to eat it up.
True. It's best to catch them while it was still there because we might never seen them again, for all we know.

The reason why it’s very similar Ren and Stimpy is because like Buy One, Get One Free, most of the people who worked on this cartoon previously worked on Ren and Stimpy (for instance, the creator of this short (Eddie Fitzgerald) was a layout artist on Ren and Stimpy). I personally really enjoy Worm Paranoia due to it’s darker tone compared to the other What a Cartoon shorts, but just like Buy One, Get One Free, I can understand why this one wouldn’t appeal to everyone and why it wasn’t picked up. Not only is it quite dark, there’s not much you could do with the premise after the pilot (Worm Paranoia is actually one of the few pilots in this show that I keep forgetting IS intended to be a pilot).

Yeah, sure. I can see that.

It just wasn't for me.

A few more "Mina & the Count" shorts were later produced for Nickelodeon's Oh Yeah! Cartoons program. Not a full series but it's still something, and I also find it interesting when a shows switch networks like this.

I don't have source at hand but I also think I recall Rob Renzetti mentioning on a podcast or something, they were considering making "Mina" shorts as a back-up segment on Dexter's Lab (similar to "Dial M for Monkey"/"Justice Friends"), but that never materialized.

EDIT:
1:53 in this video, approximately. "It almost became a middle cartoon for Dexter". Note that there's some bad language in the full video.

They have delayed quite a bit on airing the Cow and Chicken No Smoking short… it’s very strange since they air the intro for it before every single WaC short. Is it still on some sort of ban list due to smoking? Given the amount of children’s advertisers on Checkered Past, maybe they can’t show certain taboo subjects like smoking? It was scheduled to air but got removed. Then again we had some pretty raunchy shorts air like the Bakshi one which was TV-14 and surprisingly sexualized for a CN pilot. Did that one air with a Y7 originally?!
