Take note that all of this dialogue from Eren boils downs to "I wanted to commit genocide simply because it was possible and possessed of a vague but powerful urge to see it happen. Oh, and I wanted Mikasa all along but my desire to commit genocide got in the way... I hope she continues to love me even after she cuts off my head."

Easily one of the trippiest endings for a major, globally influential media franchise ever. There is theory that Isayama changed his mind in the last few months of writing this story and ended up finding himself in a creative dead end that led to this plot twist. Not sure if I am totally convinced though.

The Jaegerists are all "oh crap oh poopie we're dead we're doomed they're all gonna kill us".

I can't help but think Eren could've still presented himself as a genuine world-destroying threat without wiping out 80% of humanity.

As it turns out, the world had been suffering an overpopulation crisis, so...silver lining.

I guess love knows no bounds. Mikasa was truly the Eva Braun to Eren's Adolf Hitler.

Yeah, you're all gonna get assassinated.

"Yeah, I'm taking this scarf. You really need to stop mourning him, honey. It's like praising Hitler."

Ahh, credits. I've got a good feeling this time...

So humanity still kept destroying itself and the Titans may be reborn. Truly, Eren accomplished nothing.

Yes, but he wanted to kill people. Eren is not a good man. He set up his mother to be devoured by a Titan (his father's first wife) to create a stable time loop so that the Rumbling would be the only possible outcome of the whole causality chain.

And apparently start the whole Titan cycle all over again if the last postscript of the manga/anime applies.

Hope Eren and Armin got those premium seats down in Hell they were hoping for.

And that's that. After ten long years, Attack on Titan finishes its run.

As for me, I learned that these are all insane awful people (except for Sasha) and they all deserve their insane awful world.

But it was still a fun ride, I suppose.
